Sporting enters the match after defeating Maritimo 2-1 at home in the Primeira Liga previous weekend.

Maritimo scored the game's first goal in the first minute of play, and Sporting battled for the most of the game to break down the visitors. Sporting, though, scored the winning goal in overtime after tying the score in the 80th minute.

Sporting has gone unbeaten in 17 of their most recent 18 games in all competitions thanks to the victory over Maritimo. All four of their most recent games, which were all in the Primeira Liga, ended in victories for them.

There have been triumphs against Familicao and Maritimo at home as well as Vitoria Guimaraes and Pacos Ferreira on the road.
