Stabbing attack in Tel Aviv leaves four injured, assailant killed

Four people were injured in a stabbing attack late Tuesday in central Tel Aviv. The attacker, a Moroccan-born U.S. permanent resident, was shot and "neutralized" by a civilian passerby as he attempted to flee the scene. Israeli authorities identified the suspect, who had entered Israel three days before the attack, based on documents found on his body. Born in Morocco in June 1995, the assailant had held U.S. permanent residency since September 2022, a profile rarely seen in attacks targeting Israelis. Two of the victims sustained moderate injuries, while the other two were lightly wounded. All four were rushed to the hospital for treatment. This incident follows a similar stabbing attack on Saturday by a Palestinian assailant from the West Bank, who seriously injured an Israeli man in southern Tel Aviv before being shot dead. The attacks come amid heightened tensions following the launch of a major Israeli military operation in Jenin, which resulted in at least eight Palestinian deaths. The violence follows a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which had been in place for just two days.
