Trump announces three-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia

United States President Donald Trump on Friday announced on social media that there would be a three-day ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine from May 9 until May 11. Trump also mentioned some details of the truce in his social media accounts by saying that the total suspension of kinetic activities and a 1,000-person bilateral prisoner swap would be part of the ceasefire. “This request was made directly by me, and I very much appreciate its agreement by [Russian] President Vladimir Putin and [Ukrainian] President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. "Hopefully, it is the beginning of the end of a very long, deadly, and hard-fought war.
